Grilled Meat & Local Ingredients

The grill is central to the experience.

During our visits, dishes such as roasted pork and goat were among the plates that stood out, offering the kind of straightforward, hearty cooking you expect from a traditional Greek grillhouse.

The emphasis is on familiar flavours rather than complicated presentation.

And that is exactly the point.

The Fries Deserve Their Own Mention

One of the small details that makes a meal memorable is often something as simple as a side dish.

Here, the fresh-cut fries from Livadi, served with cheese and oregano, were one of those details.

Crisp, generous and made for sharing, they work perfectly alongside grilled meat and the other dishes on the table.

Homemade Tirokafteri

The house-made tirokafteri was another highlight of our visits.

Made with feta, roasted red peppers, garlic, olive oil and chilli, it has the familiar creamy texture of the Greek cheese dip but with enough heat to make it memorable.

Served with warm bread, it is an easy dish to share while waiting for the grill.

A Meal Is More Than the Food

What makes Grillhouse Karathanas interesting is not just the menu.

The grillhouse sits within the village environment, where the meal becomes part of the wider experience of Lofos.

Plane trees provide shade around the square, conversations carry across nearby tables and the pace is noticeably different from eating in a busy tourist centre.

What We Experienced

On one of our visits, a meal for two included several shared dishes — roasted pork, goat, Greek salad, pikantiki salad, fries and tirokafteri — together with local wine.

The total was €35 for two people at the time of that visit.
