Are you ready to experience the unique flavors and warm hospitality of Pieria region? then, Tsigaridas Festival is your target! This annual festival celebrated to represent the rich cultural heritage of Pieria, with a focus on the locally produced pork or “Tsigarida”.
The Tsigaridas Festival is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Pieria. This annual festival is dedicated to the locally produced pork delicacy called “Tsigarida,” which is an essential part of the region’s gastronomy.
Tsigarida is made by frying pieces of pork with enough fat collected in containers instead of oil. This traditional method was used by farming and ranching families to preserve meat during the winter months. The fat collected from the pork was used in foods and pies instead of oil, making it a vital ingredient in the local cuisine.
